Miao Xiao, a mortuary makeup artist, suffers from discrimination due to her unique profession and eventually falls into a deep depression. Just as she plans to change careers, she meets psychiatrist Kang Qiao and begins a daily routine of relentlessly seeking his treatment.
Kang Qiao's ex-girlfriend, Ji Yang, a national swimmer, is unable to enter the water after witnessing the accidental death of her close friend and teammate, Pan Yue. As a condition for repairing Pan Yue's remains, Kang Qiao agrees to provide psychological therapy for Miao Xiao. Under immense psychological pressure, Miao Xiao completes the restoration, helping Ji Yang find closure and allowing Kang Qiao to witness her sincerity and kindness.
As feelings gradually grow, the treatments continue. Liu Qi, the family member of a firefighter, suffers from guilt and pain over her husband's sacrifice; lawyer Zhuang Yu feels heartache and remorse over her grandmother's painful experiences during wartime; and high school student Miao Hui is driven to the brink of despair after the loss of a loved one caused by school bullying. Partnering together, Miao Xiao and Kang Qiao work as a team—one brings peace to the deceased, while the other provides solace to the living. As their understanding of one another deepens, their relationship advances rapidly.
Through these various experiences, the two heal each other and gain a more profound understanding and realization of their respective professions, making their bond even more stable. Miao Xiao eventually rediscovers her original purpose and returns to her post with a full sense of mission, as everything moves forward in a better direction.
