Yan Huan
When Cen Yuan was twenty-two, she stayed with Shang Teng. The latter promised her that he could give her anything she wanted. The prerequisite was that she must not fall in love.
An unattainable figure in the business world, Shang Teng married Cen Yuan—then still a student—to avoid an arranged marriage. The world said that in the heart of the noble and cold eldest son of the Shang family, someone already lived. Cen Yuan was merely a substitute.
After the wedding, Cen Yuan endured the ridicule of everyone. They said she became a stepmother the moment she married in, raising someone else's child. Her husband did not love her; he only married her to use her.
Cen Yuan understood all of this. Shang Teng married her because she was obedient and easy to control.
Later, Shang Teng accidentally saw a photograph in Cen Yuan’s drawer. She was smiling brightly, leaning against the shoulder of the man beside her. And that man’s features were strikingly similar to his own; both had a brown tear mole below the corner of the eye. Shang Teng finally understood why she was always staring at him in a daze.
In a fit of rage at being the substitute, Shang Teng had the tear mole removed. Cen Yuan looked at him and shook her head in disappointment: "You don't look like him anymore."
During that time, the jokes about the Shang family spread throughout the upper circles of Xun City. They heard that the strategic and calculating Shang Teng had become like one possessed. He neglected his company and pestered his ex-wife all day, begging her to remarry him.
