When Shi Rong returned home, Meng Ning had just coaxed their son to sleep. She had just left her son’s room when she heard the sound of a key being thrust into the lock and turned at the door. The sound persisted for a good while, rattling and turning for a long time, yet no one entered.
Meng Ning knew that Shi Rong must be drunk.
She gently closed the door to her son’s room to prevent him from being awakened by the certain drunken antics of a particular person later; then, she tiptoed over to open the door for him.
As soon as the door opened, the tall man instantly collapsed toward her. Meng Ning originally intended to hold him up, but she overestimated her own strength. She stumbled back several steps, only managing to steady herself by grabbing the handle at the entryway. Shi Rong, however, leaned heavily against her, mumbling incoherent nonsense. His breath, reeking of alcohol, made Meng Ning furrow her brows.
She hadn't accompanied him to the banquet tonight, and she suspected this petty man was unhappy again. He must have been brooding over his drinks and was now using his intoxication as an excuse to act out at home.
"Wife, wife, wife..." Shi Rong called her repeatedly, his hands restlessly reaching into Meng Ning’s loungewear to grope her. They had been married for so long that his touch sent an immediate shiver through her. Already unsteady on her feet, she nearly fell over this time. Fortunately, even though Shi Rong was drunk, he knew she couldn't support his weight, so he shifted from leaning on her to pulling her into his embrace. From the looks of it, he had no intention of returning to the bedroom and wanted to have his way with her right there in the entryway.
Meng Ning would have none of it. Their son had been asleep for less than ten minutes. When he lost control, he was ruthless in his tossing and turning of her; what if he woke the boy?
Shi Rong was used to being domineering—the whole world had to indulge him. If Meng Ning didn't comply, he would get angry. In the past, when he was angry, Meng Ning would be so terrified she wouldn't even dare to breathe loudly. Now, after so many years of marriage, she had figured out his temperament. As long as she followed his lead and didn't provoke him, there would be no trouble. "Let's go back to the room."
Shi Rong was unwilling. He looked at Meng Ning with bleary, drunken eyes and said dissatisfiedly, "It's not like we haven't done it before; why won't it work this time?" His speech was slurred, and his gaze was wandering.
At his words, a flash of shame and anger crossed Meng Ning’s eyes. She disliked how Shi Rong would lose all restraint and use coarse, crude language whenever his interest was piqued. But she knew that if she couldn't satisfy him tonight, the drunken Shi Rong would show her no mercy whatsoever. "Our son is asleep."
Shi Rong, who usually acted very dignified in front of her, suddenly laughed. That smile held an indescribable obscenity. "Are you afraid that screaming too loudly will wake him up?"
Meng Ning’s body stiffened. She didn't argue; let him say whatever he wanted. As long as he would go back to the room obediently and not mess with her here, he could say anything. After all, it wasn't as if she hadn't been spoken to like this before; she had heard even worse.
Fortunately, though drunk, Shi Rong still had some sense. The longer they were married, the less his little wife feared him; now she was practically lording it over him. Thus, he was uncharacteristically obedient as Meng Ning led him back to the bedroom. But as soon as they entered—before the door could even be closed—he followed his heart's desire, pinning Meng Ning against the door panel and kissing her fiercely.
His hot, wet tongue blocked her mouth. Meng Ning felt sickened by the reek of alcohol in Shi Rong’s mouth. She beat against his chest incessantly, but against his strength, she was like a chick; Shi Rong could subdue her with just one hand.
Hadn't she suffered enough in the past? If she didn't let him have his way, she would be the one to suffer for it later.
And so, Meng Ning yielded. She submissively endured Shi Rong’s kiss, even though it suffocated her.
After kissing his wife until she was breathless, Shi Rong’s mind seemed to clear slightly. He gave her breast a squeeze, then dazedly took his pajamas to go take a shower. Meng Ning steadied her somewhat shaky steps and ran to the bathroom ahead of him to start the water. She then watched the burly man standing at the edge of the bathtub, eyes half-closed, looking as if he were about to fall asleep.
She sighed and stepped forward to undress him. Under the white shirt, his lean, firm muscles looked remarkably sexy. Two buttons at his collar were undone, and his tie was crooked. Meng Ning proceeded to unfasten his cufflinks, during which Shi Rong remained as submissive as an obedient child, letting her handle him.
However, Meng Ning knew this was a mere facade. Her husband was a brutal wolf; all his overtures of kindness and tenderness were meant to make her submit more docilely.
In the past, when coerced or enticed by Shi Rong to undress or dress him, Meng Ning’s face would always be flushed with shame and tears. Now she was used to it; even when removing his underwear, her face remained calm. She was more than familiar with that part of him; she had already borne him a son, so what was there to care about? Besides, if she still acted as if she cared as much as before, there was no guarantee Shi Rong wouldn't do something terrible again to teach her how to change. This man loved it most when she resisted, as it gave him a legitimate reason to humiliate her. If Meng Ning made the same mistake for ten years, she truly would be stupid beyond belief. Therefore, the angrier he got, the more submissive she became, leaving him with nowhere to vent his anger until he finally had to let it go.
After undressing Shi Rong and helping him lie down in the bathtub, Meng Ning looked absentmindedly at this handsome yet cruel man displaying an unusual peacefulness at this moment. She glanced at the nearby electrical plug, and a terrifying thought suddenly flashed through her mind.
Fortunately, the thought was gone in an instant. Meng Ning shook her head and went out to prepare sobering tea for him.
By the time she placed the sobering tea on the bedside table, Shi Rong still hadn't come out of the bathroom. Meng Ning had no choice but to go in and check. To her surprise, the man was lying there lazily. Seeing her enter, he hooked his finger at her, signaling her to scrub his back.
There was no future in arguing with a drunk. Meng Ning understood this truth deeply. Luckily, the times Shi Rong got drunk were few and far between; otherwise, if she had to do this every time, she wouldn't be able to stand it.
Shi Rong closed his eyes in enjoyment, feeling the pleasure of his wife’s gentle, delicate hands scrubbing and stroking his body. It was different from when she was inexperienced. In the past, Meng Ning would have just given a few half-hearted scrubs and been done with it, but now she was very obedient, even washing his private areas thoroughly.
After the bath, Shi Rong drank the sobering tea under his wife’s care. The stuff tasted terrible; anyone who drank a cup of it wouldn't be able to stay drunk.
As his mind cleared, Shi Rong habitually sought intimacy. Meng Ning shook her head at him, and only then did Shi Rong realize she was on her period.
The disappointment and frustration in his heart were self-evident.
Even though Meng Ning was on her period and they couldn't have a marital life, Shi Rong would never pass up any opportunity to take advantage of her. He touched her almost everywhere until Meng Ning begged for mercy and promised him future favors. Only then was he willing to stop, pulling Meng Ning into his arms to go to sleep.
